Sepia Week, Day 2: Tiles
OK, bear with me on the flood of posts to catch up with the theme this week.
Bathroom tiles. What’s so interesting about this is that the tiles are pretty much this color. So the sepia effect didn’t really change all that much. Weird, but it’s a building from the late 1970s, also known as the Brown Era.
Tiles at the Thomas Center
Here’s a simple photo of tiles embedded in a concrete bench located on the grounds of the historic Thomas Center. The Thomas Hotel, as it was called, began as a family home and then expanded into a hotel. After a few years, the hotel closed and a community college took up residence. Demolition time came in the early 1970s, but the hotel was purchased by the city and restored. It finally achieved a listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
