Late Bloomers
![]()
About a month ago, I found these flowers along the fence at my kids’ school. The interesting thing about them is that they were the only things blooming – everything else had already bloomed, including some flowers just like them. They’re long gone now.
In other news, I’ll be reviewing yet another camera phone. This one is a super-sweet Nokia 6650 that’s GPS enabled, so I’m bound to enjoy testing it. Maybe I’ll actually shoot some photos and post GPS coordinates, considering that my blog title implies GPS photography. (I sort of dropped the ball on that part.) There will also be a mini-site featuring yours truly, but that hasn’t gone live yet. I’ll keep you posted.
Blooming Wildflowers…Almost
Here’s another shot from our walk in San Felasco last week. There were a lot of flowers already in bloom, but the anticipation of this bunch seemed a little more interesting, especially against the backdrop of the sky.
Still working on the header graphic, but I think the other little bugs have been worked out of the site. The busted comment form is now fixed (thanks to a quick copy/paste) and the formatting is a lot smoother. I also added a post archive to complement the photo archive, giving the text some much-needed exposure. (Exposure. I made a funny.)
The Bloom That Was Not

This rail is just outside the side door of the place I work. I pass it every afternoon on my way to the parking lot. When I noticed the morning glories taking over the entire area, I was thrilled because the photo opportunities were going to be great. Unfortunately, the building maintenance crew decided otherwise.
Today, the morning glories are dead vines that will not bloom. The worst part is that they didn’t even bother to remove them after spraying with weed killer. At least I have this one. Maybe next year.

Water Lily in Bloom
In an attempt to redeem myself for the atrocious week named Sepia, I’m posting a photo of the water lily that looked a little sick a few days ago. Note the color this time.
The Nymphaeaceae likes to grow in the warmer months, going dormant in the winter. I had no idea that it is considered an invasive plant, or that it was the national flower of Bangladesh. (Now I do.) Regardless of its reputation, I like it and wouldn’t mind seeing a lot more of them. Maybe it’s time for another trip to Paynes Prairie…
As for a theme week, I’m going to hold off for now, but I think there will be another one next week. If you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know. It could be any theme, just nothing too impossible.
