Scorched Earth

7 Comments | This entry was posted on Nov 12 2007

cracking-earth.jpgOnce soaked by the late summer rains, this piece of dirt now watches the sun rise and set, absorbing the radiation and releasing it’s moisture – the life-giving, cooling moisture it once held so closely – back into the atmosphere. Unlike it’s concrete neighbor, the flaking soil will hibernate to one day breathe life again, come the next rainfall.

Weed Revolution

weed-revolution.jpgNature does not care about man’s attempt to cover her over. Build your parking lots, apartment buildings, interstate highways, office complexes. She laughs and carries on as she has for millions of years. Time to break this asphalt apart.

Acorns and Bricks

acorns-bricks.jpgIt’s harvest time for the squirrels around these parts. As a result, there’s about ten bazillion acorns – whole and partially eaten – all over the ground. In the popular eating places, acorn scraps cover the grass.

I’ve always like acorns. Finding them intact brings a small amount of happiness to me for some reason. We’ve got dozens in our house, mostly collected by my kids. To find them, all you have to do is look down. Yes, indoors and out.

Cracking Up

parkinglotcracks.jpgI looked at the pavement of the parking lot and saw all these cracks. It reminds me of elephant skin. Probably make a nice texture for something.
