rosie_sage.jpgWednesday night was bath night. Thankfully, I managed to cram it into the list of things to do before Thursday, the day of my surgery.

You see, we are experiencing a flea and tick problem again. Fleas and ticks are a major nuisance that are incredibly difficult to get rid of. Strangely, we had no problems with ticks until last summer. They just came out of the woodwork. This summer, we thought we were ready for the onslaught, but to our amazement, they came back in force.

Enter the dog bath.

There’s this great flea and tick shampoo for dogs that foams up like shaving cream, which makes it easier to apply and thoroughly work into the skin. For it to eradicate the bands of rogue vermin, it must remain on the dog for about five minutes. To make better use of the time, I decided to wash two dogs at once; Rosie the Chihuahua, who just so happens to love baths as you can tell from the picture, and Sage, our beloved Cockapoo, who is also a huge fan of bath time. Don’t be fooled by the look on her face.

Once the poisonous destroyer of vermin is applied, you wait.

And wait.

For five long minutes.

What better time for pictures than now? Two pitiful looking dogs staring you down with those big puppy dog eyes is a hard shot to pass up. I’m happy to report that they survived the torturous bath, emerging flea and tick free. A quick shot of Advantix flea and tick treatment and we’re on the road to winning the tick battle. But we have yet to win the war.

Flea and tick season has just begun.

Pass it on!
