Your GPS Camera Phone: guest post by SoapBox Mom and her tween daughter
Inspired by your invitation, Pete, my tween daughter and I went around this afternoon and took a bunch of shots. She was drawn to the landscaping while I took some photos of our dog. We couldn’t decide which to send you, so we sent both. I worked with the photos using iPhoto.
For the photo of the dog, I cropped it, boosted the color one level, then brightened it (just a hair) using the exposure slider, adjusted the shadows (just slightly) and moved the sharpness quite a bit (I like what that did for her coat - you can see the detail so much more clearly that way).
For my daughter’s azalea photo, all I did was to boost the color and the sharpness just a teeny bit.
For the peony, my daughter used Photoshop Elements for this effect (similar to one you did a while back, no?) After using iPhoto for a few tweaks (black and white effect, boost of color, then fade color), she used the “Magic Extractor” in Photoshop to finish the peony isolation.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to be creative. We had a lot of fun doing it!

Hi SoapBox Mom- the color boosts look great, natural and yet gives the pictures a little oomph! I should follow your lead and have own of my kids take photos with my camera phone, I am thinking this might be something my 4 year old would like to do.
I love mucking about in Photoshop- I wish I had more time to figure out all the features.
