Here’s a shot of the first black-eyed Susan bloom growing in front of my bedroom window. They are the result of a mixed wildflower seed box that was haphazardly scattered onto what used to be the home for a few dying azalea bushes. It was a temporary measure, but they came back again this year, so I’m going to leave them. If you’re looking for low-maintenance wildflowers, these are it.
As Floridata says, “Everyone’s favorite summertime flower is the black-eyed Susan.” You know it is, so don’t deny it.

Awesome work. How did you do it?

Photoshop CS has a cool effect called “difference clouds.” It generates a layer of “clouds” on the selected layer, but uses the difference blending mode to achieve that negative film look. This was after desaturating everything but the flower. Did a little saturation on the flower and there you go. Glad you like it!

Thanks Stephen!
I tried that website thingy you have posted, but it wasn’t working for me. Maybe it’s an IE-only thing. I’m a Firefox user most of the time.

Very nice Pete. It’s perfect with that B&W - color effect. (Picasa?)
I like it!

Nope, Photoshop CS. See my reply to Vixen on how I did it.
I should have named it “Susanne Has a Black Eye” to see if you were paying attention. :D

Ok, I really like this one A LOT. It looks how I feel, surrounded by bleakness of winter but still feeling cheery. Or lonely… a lone flower…now I’m confused about how I feel…ack! lol ;)

I love this! And I’m not a big fan of Black Eyed Susans!
Nicely done, Pete.
