Here’s a simple photo of tiles embedded in a concrete bench located on the grounds of the historic Thomas Center. The Thomas Hotel, as it was called, began as a family home and then expanded into a hotel. After a few years, the hotel closed and a community college took up residence. Demolition time came in the early 1970s, but the hotel was purchased by the city and restored. It finally achieved a listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

If you hadn’t chopped off the bottom two squares, this would have made a neat, tiled desktop background. Or a coaster.

What beautiful, subtle colours. I love the tiles, how old are they?
The hotel looks fantastic - definitely added to my list of places to visit!

I think the tiles and the bench they’re on aren’t that old, but I could be mistaken. The place has been heavily refurbished. Regardless, a nice little place near home to go relax and take pictures.
It’s no longer a hotel, so save your vacation money.

BRY! You know what’s funny? I’ve never actually been inside the Thomas Center. Yeah, weird, I know.

Y’know, I was gonna suggest that you get some photos over there at the Thomas Center. There are some great bricks over there by the fountain, too, but I think that would qualify as going back to the memorial thing again…

I’ve been looking at them, so don’t be surprised if they appear on this blog someday.

Wait…I’m feeling deja vu. Didn’t you post something from there a while back?
No matter. Just curious…
I like this one. That blue shade is one of my favorites.
