Creative Camera Phone Ideas
Just when I thought my use of a camera phone was out of-the-ordinary, along comes Amit Agarwal of Digital Inspiration with an incredible list of camera phone uses.
In his article, “Interesting Uses of Camera Mobile Phones,” Amit lists some pretty good ideas to make use of an otherwise less-than-perfect camera. His ideas include remembering where you parked, photographing on-screen crashed computer errors, using OCR to pull text from images of news clippings and lots of other stuff.
My favorite, however, is using it as a shopping tool when your significant other is not along for the ride. I wish I would have thought of this last week. Amit writes:
If you are in a store shopping without your spouse, get his/her opinion on the stuff you are about to purchase by emailing pictures though your phone. A word of caution here – some shop owners may consider your action as “digital shoplifting” and this may lead to an embarrassing situation.
I’m not so worried about the digital shoplifting part, but I suppose an art store might have a problem with this method. Either way, Amit provides a load of great ideas. Go check it out!

Excellent ideas! especially the remembering where you parked one. I spent ages wandering round the airport car park when I returned from Nice as I couldn’t remember where I had written the area of the car park I had parked in….

I’ve always wanted to take photos inside grocery stores here in japan but I’m afraid I’d be reprimanded. The worst part is, I won’t be able to understand them nor defend my self

Diane: that is a good one, but I’m lucky enough to not have that problem in my (relatively) small town. I haven’t traveled in forever, so maybe I’ll do it then.
shiera: Now that you mention it, grocery stores in the U.S. are somewhat sensitive to photography as well. I should remember that.
