lights.jpgThis was the weekend of building the winter wonderland in my front yard. It’s a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of work. To mark the occasion, I decided that a photo was appropriate. Enjoy.

News and Stuff

I’m stoked that the video tutorial went over so well. Thanks for all of the positive comments. Next up is an easy way to achieve an aged photo look by applying a few simple effects in Picasa2. I hope to have this posted by the end of the week, but paying gigs take priority. Of course, if someone wants it posted tomorrow, I can always give you my Paypal address…

Special thanks to Opal Tribble at Vegan Momma for making me her guest RSS feed last week. I haven’t looked at the incoming traffic yet, but I’m sure I’ve gained some new readers from it. Thanks, Opal!

If you haven’t seen Dan’s totally cool Lucy in the Sky with Dragons image yet, you should. It rawks.

If you’re into street fighting, sullicom is now accepting votes for the final round of the Food Network Battle Royale. It is bound to be explosive, with cold and calculating Alton Brown facing off against the “Everyday Italian,” Giada De Laurentiis. If Alton is not lured into complacency by her hotness, he will destroy her. It will be an uphill battle, for sure. Cast your votes (Alton Brown) now!

Featured MGPSCP (My GPS Camera Phone) blogger, Shiera, is finally going for a custom domain name! On the flip-side, she really misses her kid. I couldn’t imagine working so far away from my kids. Go visit and say hello.

I finally took the Monetizer’s advice and made my first Squidoo lens. It’s easy and could potentially send traffic my way. Check it out if you want, then set one up yourself. It only took me about 45 minutes and it’s free.

Finally, voice-talent mega-star Heather Dugan is back from a computer failure with audio blog posts. It’s like listening to NPR or a television commercial without being sold anything. Totally awesome.

I like this photo because it shows how most of us feel about all the preparations and daily December activities. For example the blur or movement of the camera tells about how no matter how ready or organized we are there are people and situations that can put us right in that blurry place whether it’s at the shopping mall or just decorating. Pray for Peace on Earth, but don’t expect it for a few months.

I like it. It’s just how Christmas makes me feel….

Diane’s last blog post..Edible books?

Pete,
Thanks very much for the mention!
I’m intrigued by your foray into video. We plan to (eventually) add it to my site. -Wish I were as technically saavy as you!
Watching and learning…

Heather (”Footsteps”)’s last blog post..Back on the (Blue Ridge) Parkway; Mt Mitchell at last…

Leatherboots: You nailed it, but that wasn’t my thought when taking it. Or maybe it was my subconscious talking.

Diane: It comes and goes so quickly. Is it just me?

Heather: No problem! We can collaborate someday on a photo editing series. You talk and I’ll point-and-click. :) On a side note - you can download a free copy of Camtasia Studio 3 form the Techsmith site. I’l look up the link and add it to my next post. They’re on version 5 now, but 3 does the trick.

The dragon reminds me of a flying monkey.. you guys are freaking me out!

[...] he’s not a flying monkey, so Jon should be okay with it. Joanne may lose her appetite and Pete might fill him up with Christmas lights. Doesn’t look like Nina, so he’s definitely not The Alien Next Door. Two doors down [...]

Since you’ve expressed your dislike of flying monkeys, I’ll have to see if there’s any around to here to photograph. ;D

you really don’t run out of picture-taking style, don’t you?

oh no… now, I really should get serious on getting my own domain! haha! :D

I hope I could make the move before new year (keeping my fingers crossed).

thanks pete :D

shiera’s last blog post..Christmas Tags, Oh Christmas Tags

It gets a little difficult to stay within the limits of the camera phone, but I manage to find something. Let me know if you need any help getting a domain.

A friend recommended a web host-the one she’s using and it’s a good one. But it’s best to gather more options… would you mind sharing which web host you’re using?

Thanks a lot, Pete!

Dude, nice. That photo, once enlarged, is stellar. It really engages your eyes dramatically. Props.

I’m hoping I can do it again next year with a dSLR. Long exposure time and some camera movement really makes for some crazy shots.
