Clear and Cold Morning

Even the flood of sun rays cannot quench the fire that will soon consume this fine example of kindling. Once the freezing weather returns, I’ll be back to harvest this specimen to start the first fire of the season. There’s nothing like freezing weather and a day-long fire to keep the house warm. The crackling sounds and a hint of burnt wood ushers in positivity and solitude unlike any clear summer day.

I LOVE the smell of a log fire. I have a gas fire in my sitting room and it looks very realistic (and you don’t have to clear up the aftermath next day!) but I miss the smell and the crackling!
Diane’s last blog post..Starfish, blogging stars and glue sniffing?
I must have authentic flames, but I do not enjoy the mess it creates!
I like fire. It heats my home and cooks my food. Fire is good.
We had the first outdoor fire of the season last night. It was awesome.
