bookstore_cafe.jpgVisiting the local big-box bookstore is a favorite thing of mine, though it’s not often that I get to do it. Saturday offered the chance in the form of a well-placed escape from weeding through racks of clothes for the really good deals. I took the kids two doors down, got a giant crisped rice treat and a medium-sized cup of Colombian coffee. Once the sugar intake was completed, we headed to the kid’s section.

Normally, you would think that this would be the last place you’d want to be in a bookstore. Well, you’re right. This day, however, happened to be slow and the kid’s section was empty. I gladly took my position in the grown-up chair and began the slow, sliding motion downward toward an almost prone position. Before I fell asleep, I managed to snap this photo.

Asleep?! Yes, asleep. I wasn’t totally out of it and I still had my shoes on, unlike the guy in the cafe. I actually kind of dozed on and off, waking up and wondering why this huge cup of caffeine wasn’t working. After about 90 minutes of this, I had to arouse the kids from their blissful oblivion and make our way back to the clothing store. But I can say this much - it was some of the best rest I’ve had in weeks.

Photo tweaks made in Picasa2 - a little color correction and the focused blur tool (?) to blur out the background.

Dude, that was you?

Looks like one of those hidden camera segments that gives an overview of the place. Life through the lens seems to suit your own pleasure. Enjoy taking shots of many different places and situations. Smile and have a Great Holiday Week.

Do you snore? :)
I am sending you virtual chocolate to congratulate you for your 100th post - very dark!
Have a happy holiday week!

Diane’s last blog post..How very odd?.

That must have been a very comfy chair! :D
I cut down my coffee to 1 cup a day, from 4 cups a day, because it’s no longer working! I’m still looking for something to replace it with…

shiera’s last blog post..Osaka no Makati

Man, I love your blog. I have to make my coffee really strong now because my caffeine tolerance is much higher than it used to be. I wish that I could have some of Diane’s virtual chocolate–funny, a friend and I were talking the other day, wishing we could send chocolate via IM, or if Hershey or Cadbury could distribute it via Myspace. It would be a modern-day version of Willy Wonka’s television chocolate! myspace.com/hersheys would probably crash their servers every day. :D

Stephen’s last blog post..My second voice post.

LOL! Love that post. I can just picture it. The coffee probably kicked in just at the right time, no?

Shiera,
I’ve never been a Coffee Drinker, but if you can try some Green Tea, you might like that as an alternative. I only drink Green Tea, no more Caffienated sodas. I feel revitalized and my health is now better too. My worst habit is Gatorade after my workouts, but keeping with the Program has helped me cleanse my body with just plain Water about three times aweek. Goodluck.

Joe: Dude, the hand is me. The kid is one of mine. The coffee is also mine.

Leatherboots: Thanks, this one came out way better than I anticipated. I should sell it to the bookstore.

Diane: Ah, there’s the chocolate! I snore only when I’m really tired. Or if I’m in a public place. :)

Shiera: The chair was not the best, but it was well-worn by other parents, which made it a good sleeping spot. I hear you on the coffee thing. Cut back a week and then go strong again. Works like a charm.

Stephen: You are awesome! To everyone reading this: go visit Stephen’s blog. Many times a day. For the rest of your life. Thanks for your visit and comments. You can stop by anytime. :D I would be all over the virtual chocolate thing.

bmgmom: The coffee never kicked in! That’s what was so confusing to me at the time. I wonder if I got slipped some old decaf. Decaf is unforgivable. It’s right up there with Comic Sans.

No, I mean I think I saw you sleeping that day in my Barnes and Nobles

Only if you were in Gainesville, Florida. At least I had my shoes on.

Dude! is she glued to that chair? c’mon, I know she did NOT just sit there while you slept with your coffee ready to fall in your lap… let me guess, pok-eee-mon cheat book? xxu
