Well, the Pinecone Ginger bloom mentioned some time ago hasn’t bloomed the way a flower is expected to bloom. Not yet anyway. That or I missed it.
Since Susie is dying to see something more of this, I posted an almost blooming photo. If you look at the earlier bloom, it isn’t very colorful. These have taken on a nice reddish hue and they smell great. I’m still looking every day and waiting for little petals to appear. If they do, I’ll post a follow-up.

Petee,
The fact that you keep watch and eagerly await the chance to share your cultivated Beauty shows that you have a generous nature. This is truly Art.

How gorgeous is that? It’s a plant I have never heard of so I’m dying to see what else it does… do they smell of ginger?

Leatherboots: Thanks.
Diane: I can’t really describe the smell, except maybe that it has a light aroma like rosewater, but smells a little bit like perfume. You can smell it standing a few feet away.

Thanks for the photo, the flower really looks cool. It has a good name too, because it looks more like a pinecone than a flower.

Very colorful and unexpectantly so.

Susie: I’ve been checking for the little petals, but I may have missed them. The pinecone bloom itself is still quite attractive. I wish I could post the smell to my blog.
Joe: It’s starting to take on a decaying bloom color, which is not so attractive.
