Death Caps

UPDATE:These are NOT Death Caps, but Fairy Ring mushrooms. They will still mess you up, so don’t even think about eating them, mmkay?
These mushrooms are everywhere. They’re called Death Caps because, well, they can kill you. Or seriously put a hurtin’ on you. Do not eat. Sometimes you can find these growing in a circular pattern called a fairy ring. I saw one the other day somewhere, but it’s gone by now. A completed ring is hard to catch, but I got to see one. Cool.

Thanks for your Educational Editorial about Death Cap Mushrooms. I have them all around my neighborhood. Never considered eating them, but thanks for your warning.
Thanks for coming around to Balls and Walnuts.
Are these Amanita muscaria I’m not much of a mushroom expert, clearly!

It’s known as a Parasol or Fairy ring mushroom – scientifically: Chlorophyllum molybdites. The ones you’re talking about make you see things. I think I may have mislabeled them as Death Caps, which are darker and don’t have the flaky thing going on. More here:
Death Cap (Amanita phalloides)
And this is why I don’t go mushroom hunting. Sad, though, since I love wild mushrooms!

You won’t have time, unless there’s a phone in your bathroom! These probably won’t kill you, but I think you’d wish you were dead if you ate them.
