Lightning Will Strike you Down…

This is totally off-topic, but I thought it was a great example of the difficulties of iconography.
My wife loves books and just received a big lot of them from a seller in Quebec. This label apparently means, “the box is heavy, so don’t hurt your back.” My first reaction to it was, “Pick up this box and electricity will shoot out of your back.” Here’s some more:
Lightning strikes may occur if you touch this package.
If you have a large body and skinny legs, stand in this strange position while holding this box and you can emit a radio frequency.
Zeus will smite you if you even think of getting near this box.
I am so easily amused (see post below).

Hey Pete, that’s a funny pic. I’m glad I don’t have any packages with that warning sticker on it. I kinda like my back without the lightening coming out of it, hahaha.

Well looks like the English version is probably more enlightening than the French word which I as a French Canadian have no clue of its usage. Obviously most people French or English Speaking would understand Heavy Better than the French counterpart, as well as 25KG. See you thanks for a complete five minutes of entertainment while I viewed this photo, read your Blog, and then gave my own Perspective. Au Revoir!

Rolando: all I know is that after this post, the border patrol will probably disallow all packages bearing that sticker into the U.S.
Leatherboots: the U.S. is one of like two countries who use pounds and not kilos. So 25kg is like 400 lbs, right? I mean it would take at least that much straining to induce bolts of electricity, I would think…

Clever take on it.
How about, Zeus will smite you in the small of your back if you try to lift this box.
I like it!

You know, I was going to say that, really. Either way, that guy on the label has serious problems.

I have toddlers that need this disclaimer on them.

Pete,
Definitely gave me a good laugh — next time you go to an amusement park, check out the pictographic messages you see there. My two favorite I saw at Universal Studios in Orlando are the “Be Careful with your prosthetic limbs” one and the “May cause nausea”.
Instant classics.

Yeah, anywhere there’s bound to be an international crowd, you’re likely to get unusual results. I saw some from the Olympics recently that were incomprehensible. I wish I could find that site.
Thanks for checking out my site.
